STERLING WEAK
REFLECTION OF ANXIETIES ABOUT EUROPE. COMMODITIES IN DEMAND IN LONDON. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, October 14. The weakness of gilt-edged securities and sterling reflect misgivings following upon the Munich conference and Herr Hitler’s speech at Saarbrucken. The continued pressure on sterling, at a time when the dollar is usually weak, emphasises the continued political doubts on the Continent. Talk of inflation and the weakness of sterling continue to promote strength of commodity prices. Copper, tin and lead have advanced strongly. Trading is active.
