KNOTTY PROBLEM GERMAN DIFFICULTIES. DEMAND BY MUSSOLINI. (Received This Day, LIO p.m.) LONDON, October 14. ‘■The Times” Berlin correspondent says M. Daranyi asked that the Czechoslovakian and Hungarian dispute should be taken up by the Munich Powers. Germany feels that it is difficult to support Poland and Hungary in demands which, if granted, would go beyond the terms accepted by the Reich. Moreover, -Germany is perplexed because she <T6es not desire to offend Signor Mussolini, who continues to support Hungary. The Hungarian Ambassador at Rome appealed to Signor Mussolini to summon the Munich Big Four. Meanwhile, according to the British United Press correspondent, the situation is being discussed between London, Paris, Rome and Berlin. The view is expressed from Rome that a speedy settlement is essential to avoid trouble. As showing the trend to Germany, “The Times” Prague correspondent says it is. significant that while Rightist newspapers are advocating the abolition of all political parties in favour of a National Union bloc, Liberal journals are -reluctant and support the democratic principles which have been sacrosanct for twenty years, '’■rowing anti-Semitism also shows the way the wind is blowing.
