HOLLYWOOD JOKE?
MR GOLDWYN SURPRISED. RECTORSHIP OF GLASGOW UNIVERSITY. (Received This Day, 9.55 'a.m.) HOLLYWOOD, October 14. The United Press states that Mr Goldwyn was invited to become a nominee for Lord Rector of Glasgow University. He suspected a joke and cabled his London representative when the offer was confirmed. He is flabbergasted and will reach a decision when he has reached Hollywood from New York. IRRITATION PROFESSED. (Received This Day, 10.20 a.m.) HOLLYWOOD, October 14. Mr Goldwyn’s associates professed irritation when it was discovered that the Glasgow rectorship .offer was a joke. They believed that a genuine invitation had been made to Mr Goldwyn.
