“SILLY JOKE”

SIR O. MOSLEY’S POSITION. LETTER OF RESIGNATION FORGED. LONDON, October 14. The first edition of the “Daily Telegraph” published a letter today announcing Sir Oswald Mosley’s resignation from the leadership of the British Union of Fascists, but later editions described the letter as a forgery and added Sir Oswald’s comment to the effect that “It is a silly joke. I know nothing about it.” Sir Oswald Mosley declared that he had certainly not resigned and that the report was totally untrue. The letter to the “Daily Telegraph” was. written on the union’s notepaper and bore a forgery of Sir Oswald’s signature.
