FINAL SHOTS

THE MASTERTON CAMPAIGN. BOTH CANDIDATES SPEAK. The final shots in the election campaign for the Masterton seat were fired last night, when, both candidates, Messrs J. H. Irving (National) and J. Robertson (Labour) addressed fairly large gatherings in Masterton. Mr Irving spoke in the Opera House and was given an excellent hearing. The only untoward occurrence took place when Mr Irving appeared on the sta“e. A man in the audience “booed” and the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, ordered him to be removed from the hall. Before action could be taken, however, the man left of his own accord and 'was followed by a party of apparently Labour supporters. Mr Robertson addressed the electors at Eketahuna and then attended a Labour Party rally in the Municipal Hall. He was very well received on both occasions. Both candidates spoke along the lines of their recent addresses.
