FEILDING SALE A FIRM TONE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, October 14. A considerably increased yarding at the Feilding sale today met with good competition and a firm tone. Fat .hoggets were up 2s a head, but ewes and wethers were easier. Store hoggets held firm at late rates with a good clearance. Store cattle were in keen demand, a fairly substantial entry of run cattle selling well, particularly any in forward condition. Dairy stock were also firmer than last week and beef appeared to be recovering from last week’s drop. Prices were: — Fat sheep: Hoggets, extra prime, 25s 7d to 26s 6d; good seconds, 23s 6d to 24s 9d; average sorts, 21s 9d to 22s lOd; light, 16s 4d to 20s lOd; best wethers, 25s to 265; others, 21s 3d to 24s 9d; prime ewes, 20s 4d; lighter, to 18s 4d. Store sheep: Ewe hoggets, well grown 31s 7d to 33s 6d; smaller, 27s 3d to 29s sd; inferior, from 15s 3d; good wether do., 23s to 24s 9d; second grade, 20s to 22s 3d; small, 16s 8d to 18s 6d; good b,f, do., 20s sd. Store cattle: Forward cows, heavy, £4 15s to £5 17s 6d; others, £2 to £4 ss; empty heifers, £3 to £4 15s; yearling Jersey heifers, £3 5s to £4 ss; yearling P.A. steers, £5 10s; two-year do., £7 Is; two-year-Jersey do., £7 2s 6d; three-year S.H., do., £9 12s 6d; yearling Jersey steers, £3; empty Hereford cows, £5 Is; do. P.A., £4 10s. Dairy cattle: Spring heifers, extra choice, £l5; good, £lO to £ll 15s; others, £5 to £9 10s; heifers in milk, £4 15s; spring cows, £6 5s to £8 10s. Fat cattle: Hereford heifers, mediumweight, £8 10s to £8 15s; cows, ex dairy, £5 10s to £7 10s. Poultry: Hens, 2s 9d to 4s 6d; cockerels, 2s 4d to 4s 2d; hen and chicks, 8s 6s to Ils 6d; chicks, B|d to Is 5d each. Pigs: Weaners, 21s 6d to 345. CARTERTON SALE GOOD COMPETITION FOR SHEEP Wright, Stephenson and Co Ltd report:—We held our weekly sale at Carterton yesterday when a fair entry of cattle was submitted to the usual attendance. Sheep met with good competition and made late rates. All class of cattle sold well, especially spring heifers and fat cows. Pigs made ruling rates. The following prices were realised: — Sheep:—F. and f, woolly wether hoggets, 21s 6d, 21s 9d to 225; f. and f. b.f. hoggets, 19s 6d to 22s Id; b.f. 2-tooths, to 20s; f.and f.- ewes, 14s 3d to 16s 6d; wether hoggets, to 17s 6d; ewes with lambs at foot, 13s to 14s 6d (all counted. Cattle: Jersey cross heifers on drop, £7 to £9 12s 6d; springing Jersey heifers, £5 to £6 15s; Jersey cows in milk, £6 17s 6d to £8; cows on drop, to £10; prime heifers, £7 to £9 15s; prime cows, £7 to £8 15s; fat Jersey bullock, to £l2 10s; fat cows, £5 to £6 15s; forward cows, £3 to £4 15s; store cows, 37s 6d to £2 16s; cull cows, 10s to 265; cows and calves, £4 5s to £5 7s; yearling Jersey heifers, £3 to £4 10s Pigs:—Weaners (good), 19s 6d to 235; (medium), 16s to 19s; (small), 12s to 15s; slips, 24s to 275; store pigs, 27s 6d to 30s; light porkers, 30s 6d to 345; porkers, 35s to 425; baconers, to £3 12s; choppers, to £2.
