Wairarapa Times-Age FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14, 1938. THE IMPORTANCE OF VOTING.
TN view of the tense feeling the election campaign has aroused and the very general appreciation of the vital importance of the issues at stake, there should be no reason to doubt that voters will muster at the polls in full strength tomorrow. The conditions are rather novel in that, the election is taking place on a Saturday, which for most people is at least a half-holiday, but those who allow anything to stand in the way of the discharge ol their electoral duties will show a poor regal'd either for their own interests or for their citizen responsibilities. 1
This emphatically is an occasion on which every vote should be cast and on which those who fail to vote may have cause later on bitterly io regret their neglect. The wise course lor all electors is to take the earliest opportunity of voting and so to avoid the necessity of becoming involved in the possible crowding and congestion of booths in the later hours of the day. Good advice was tendered the other day by the Masterton returning officer (Mr D. C. E. Webster) when he urged that electors should vote at booths in. •the vicinity of their places of residence, instead of concentrating on the principal booths and occasioning possible 'congestion. The polling machinery is well organised, however, and the great point to be emphasised is that, every elector able to do so shftuld make a point of registering his or her vote tomorrow.
