MASTERTON BRANCH MEETING. PAST MONTH’S ACTIVITIES. The monthly meeting of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday afternoon. There were present Mesdames J. Caselberg (in the chair), N. Irwin, S. L. P. Free, E. G. Eton, A. S. Stewart, T. Jordan, T. W. Wardell, W. A. Michael, Sortain Smith, A. Ericson, A. H. Falloon, J. D. O’Connor, T. F. Watson, C. A. Carmine, A. Donald, H. H. Daniell and R. Miller (Kopuaranga). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames P. Nathan, .R. C. Drummond, J. M. Coradine, D. Donald and J. Broad. A circular was received from the Dominion Secretary advising the branch that the levy due to headquarters for overhead current expenses would be £.33 13s 4d. A letter was received from the Mauriceville sub-branch enclosing a cheque for £2O, being the amount contributed towards its quota for the nurse’s salary and travelling expenses.
The convenor of the local committee of the Pan-Pacific Women’s Association wrote with reference to the appointment of a delegate from the Masterton branch of the society. Mrs Free was appointed to attend the local meeting. Accounts amounting to £lO9 11s 4d were passed. Remits from headquarters for the general conference to be held in Wellington on November 16 and 17, were read and discussed. Mrs Miller, Kopuaranga, was appointed to attend as delegate, with Mrs Caselberg and Mrs Free, ex-officio. , Thanks were expressed to Mrs Sydney Smith for the donation of infants’ garments. The nurses reported as follow: —Masterton, visits to office, adults, 347; bab-| ies, 331; older children, 80; telephone, 99; total, 857. Visits to homes, new cases, 46; old cases, 198; total, 244. New cases for month, town, 15; country, 3. Out-stations, Kopuaranga, Mauriceville West and East, 3 visits each; Hastwell and Te Wharau, one visit each; visits to homes, 27; Blairlogie, Whareama, Langdale and Tinui, 2 visits each; Homewood, one visit; visits to new cases, 2; old cases, 8; total, 20. Pre-natal section: New cases, 3; visits to homes, 4. DONATIONS 'acknowledged.
