CONQUEST OF ABYSSINIA
NEW ZEALAND’S ATTITUDE PRAISED AN APPRECIATIVE MESSAGE (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) LONDON, October 12. The Abyssinia Association has cabled the New Zealand Prime Minister, Mr M. J. Savage, as follows: —“We desire to assure you and your Government that a large body of opinion in Britain, irrespective of political sympathies, greatly appreciates and admires the correct attitude of New Zealand, as a member of the League of Nations, in its consistent support of the principles of the Covenant, and is grateful for its opposition to recognition of Italian annexation. The association, whose members represent most varied political and religious opinions, is convinced that a majority of Britons will not support Mr Neville Chamberlain regarding recognition.”
