EKETAHUNA

BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Borough Council a motion was passed to the effect that the Eketahuna Swimming Club be charged 10 per cent on gross takings at the baths, and that the charge on gala days and nights shall not exceed Is. It was reported by Cr Olsen that a large culvert on the side road between the residences of Mr H. Baillie and Mr W. Hornblow had collapsed. Replacement would prove costly and he suggested the road should be closed and sold. —It was decided to act on the suggestion. The Public Trustee wrote stating that under me will of the late Mr Lars Melker Richard Nordell, the sum of £25 had been bequeathed to the Public Library for general purposes. The Library Committee reported that for the period July 1 to September 30, the number of books issued totalled 925 and the subscribers number 57. The total subscriptions and extra book fees for the period amounted to £l2 6s 9d. One dozen new publications had been ordered.

Residence for District Nurse. At a meeting of representatives of various institutions interested in the provision of a residence and consulting room for the district nurse, it was decided, on the motion of Mr W. Simpson, Mayor of Eketahuna: “That this meeting is of the unanimous opinion that a permanent residence for the District Nurse in Eketahuna is essential; and further that the representatives of the Hospital Board present pledge themselves io do all in their power to bring the matter to a successful conclusion, conditionally on the residue of the Cottage Hospital Trust Fund being available at no cost to the board.” Eketahuna Dairy Co. At the annual meeting of the Eketahuna Dairy Company, Mr W. Simpson was re-elected chairman of directors. Messrs G. and K. Oliphant, E. McAnulty, Keith and C. O. O’Donnell were re-elected directors. Golf Championship Final. In the final of the men’s golf championship J. Dickson beat D. Fraser.
