SLOW BOWLER NEEDED
AS FOIL FOR O’REILLY SURVEY OF AUSTRALIAN TEAM By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. FREMANTLE, October 11. Among the passengers aboard the Orcades, which arrived from London today, was the cricketer, W. Oldfield. He said that the Australian team sadly needed a slow bowler to provide a consistent foil for O’Reilly. There was also a place for a fast bowler with the necessary stamina to stand the strain of five Tests. . “England,” said Oldfield, ‘ is blessed with a fine array of young talent, providing a most hopeful outlook.” Wright, in Oldfield’s opinion, was the most successful bowler for England.. The individual brilliance of Bradman and O’Reilly was largely responsible for Australian retaining the Ashes.
