WEDDING
HOLLAND—MADSEN. On Saturday last the St Matthew’s Anglican Church, Masterton, was the scene of an attractive wedding, when Joyce Christina, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Madsen, of Masterton, was married to John Flower, twin son of Mr and Mrs F. Holland, of Martinborough. The church was decorated by friends of the bride with arum lilies and spring flowers. The Rev E. J. Rich was the officiating clergyman. The bride was escorted by her father, and her gown, with its graceful train, was of magnolia satin, and her veil, lent by the bridegroom’s mother, was held in place by a coronet of waxed lilies and orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of arum lilies. As the bride left the church she was presented with a horse-shoe by Bruce Cottle, a small cousin of the bride. The bridesmaids were the two sisters of the bride, Miss Phyllis Madsen (chief) and Miss Edna Madsen. They were frocked alike in blue blister organdie over white satin, with ruched bodices and full skirts. Their Victorian posies were of forget-me-nots and small” spring flowers, and they wore top-knots of the same flowers on their heads. The duties of best man and groomsman were carried out by Mr Bill Holland (twin brother of the bridegroom) and Mr Ken Feist, both of Martinborough. The reception was afterwards held at the Cosy Tearooms, the guests being received by Mrs F. Madsen and Mrs F. Holland. Mrs Madsen wore a navy georgette ensemble with hat and shoes to tone. Her posy was of anemones in mauve shades. Mrs Holland wore a navy floral dress with navy coat. Her posy was of mauve and scarlet tulips. When the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon, which is to be spent in the South Island, the bride was attired in a smartly patterned frock of Tyrolean crepe with navy georgette redingote and toque hat and veil to tone. Their future home will be in Lower Hutt. A large number of guests were entertained at a dance in the Orange Hall in the evening, when a most enjoyable time was spent by all.
