MATRON FAREWELLED
GATHERING IN NURSES’ HOME. A book evening was held in the Nurses’ Home at the Masterton Hospital last night to farewell the Matron, Miss K. I. Barnitt. The rooms were beautifully decorated for the occasion. In addition to the staff of the hospital, 27 ex-trainees from different parts of the- district were present. Sisters Johnson and Innes, as the “Matron and Superintendent,” won the first prize in the fancy dress competition. Dr. Archer Hosking, Medical Superintendent, on behalf of the staff and ex-trainees, made a presentation of a wireless set to Miss Barnitt as a token of their esteem and conveyed the best wishes of all for her future happiness. He paid a tribute to the services she had.rendered to the hospital. After Miss Barnitt had replied and expressed her deep appreciation of the gift and good wishes, supper was served in the sitting room. Several nurses contributed items which were greatly appreciated.
