TABLE TENNIS

KURIPUNI CLUB CLOSES SEASON. YANKEE TOURNAMENT HELD. The Kuripuni Table Tennis Club closed its season last night with a most successful Yankee tournament. Many table tennis enthusiasts from various other country clubs were present. The winners of last night’s tourney were: Miss N. Jones and Mr N. Myers and the runners-up Miss N. Brown and Mr A. Tagg. After a most enjoyable supper had been served by a capable ladies’ committee the president of the Kuripuni Club, Mr H. Skuse, presented the trophies won during the season by local members, as follow: —Ladies’ singles cup, Miss H. Rigg; men’s singles, Mr W. Pye; combined doubles, Miss J. Rutherford and Mr W. Pye; men’s handicap singles, .Mr K. Miller; men’s doubles, Mr W. Pye and K. Miller; ladies’ doubles, Miss Thelma Walker and Mrs Wright; mixed doubles, Miss J. Rutherford and Mr W. Pye. After the presentation of the trophies Mr Skuse expressed his thanks to all. visiting players -who had attended during the season. He thanked most heartily the Jones family who have been such valuable members and such excellent workers in the club. Thanks were also expressed to the Kuripuni Methodist Church for the use of the tables throughout the season. After Mr Myers had replied on behalf of the Mauriceville Club, a very pleasant evening was brought to a close by the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
