FEATHERSTON

MASONIC LODGE CEREMONY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The installation of Bro. Charles John Nix, S.W., as Worshipful Master of St. John’s Lodge, Featherston, and the investiture of officers took place in the Masonic Hall last evening. There was a very large attendance of brethren from all over the district. The ceremony was conducted by the Rt. Wor. Bro. J. H. Jer/am, Provincial Grand Master, assisted by officers of Grand Lodge, some of whom came from Masterton. A very pleasant time was passed in the refectory, where a number of toasts were honoured. Euchre and Dance. There was a good attendance at the Euchre and Dance held by the Kahutara Social Club irrthe Kahutara Hall on Saturday night. The winners for euchre were: Ladies, Miss D. Chisholm 1, Mrs Ackerman 2. Men, Mr J. Fenwick 1, Mr Pearson 2. Winners of the aggregate were: Ladies, Mrs Chisholm 1, Mrs Simmons 2. Men, Mr Thompson 1, Mr Feast 2. The Monte Carlo competition was won by Mr D. Benton and Miss A. Loft.

Personal. Miss J. McKenzie was a weekend visitor to Featherston. * Defence Rifle Club. The afternoon was fine on Saturday when the Gum Grove range was declared open for the season by the president, Mr Thomas Benton. There was a good number of marksmen, including several from Greytown, and seven shots were fired at each, 300 yards and two ranges of 500 yards, when some good scoring was recorded as under: —

At the conclusion of the shoot the visitors were entertained to afternoon tea. '

GOLF MATCH. TUI GLEN BEAT FEATHERSTON. A match between the Tui Glen and Featherston Clubs, played on the Tui Glen links, resulted in a win for Tui Glen by 241 games to 81.
