MARTINBOROUGH
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The October meeting of the Women’s Institute which was held in the Parish Hall was presided over by Mrs Lamb. Delegates were appointed for the Federation meetings at Eketahuna and Masterton. A most interesting and instructive travel talk was given by Mrs Jolly, her subject being Holland. Hairpin work was demonstrated by Mrs Findlay while the prize for the best article made from a sugar bag was won by Mrs Davidson with Mrs Tilyard second. For the November meeting members are requested to bring a gift for the Children’s Party or contribute one shilling towards the same. Personal. Mrs J. Smith is an inmate of the Tiri Hospital. Miss Peggy Fleming, of Wellington, is the guest of Mrs Kershaw. Badminton Dance. A very successful dance was conducted by the local Badminton Club in the Parish Hall last night. There was a large attendance of dancers and several tables of bridge players. A Monte Carlo foxtrot was won by Mr and Mrs George Cuthbert. The bridge was won by Mrs W. J. Knell. Supper was provided.
