Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 29.94; shade temperature, maximum 66.3, minimum 45.3; terrestrial, 31.6; sunshine, 11 hours 50 minutes; rain, 1 point. General situation: Pressure is high to the north and west but a series of slight secondary depressions is crossing the South Island and pressure is low to the east of it. Forecast: Strong westerly to south-westerly winds to gales but gradually moderating; a few showers in the ranges but weather mainly fair to fine and mild.
