HOSPITAL MATRON

PRESENTATION BY STAFFS. A function was held on Tuesday afternoon at the Masterton Hospital by the combined staffs for the purpose of making a presentation to Matron Barnitt on her retirement. Mr A. L. Askew, who presided, in the course of his remarks said:: In saying farewell to you we feel your going awJy just as much as you do yourself. We trust that the splendid service which you have given this institution will never be forgotten. I hope that when you are settled down in your new home you will allow your thoughts to wander back pleasantly to the Masterton hospital, with its staff, the members of which have always tried to help you to make this hospital the proficient institution it is today. It is the sincere wish of all that the new life you are about to commence will be 100 per cent full of good health and happiness and may you be spared for many years to enjoy the rest you so well deserve after a job well done.” Mr W. Ashworth, in a few words, also paid a tribute to the Matron. Mr Askew then called on Miss M. Oliphant to present the Matron with a handsome silver tea service in appreciation of her services.

The Matron suitably replied and a very pleasant function * ended with musical honours being accorded Miss Barnitt. ’
