PERSONAL ITEMS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr and Mrs D. Scott were weekend visitors to Wellington. Mr A. Olsen is on a visit to Wellington. I New Library Books. The following new books have been added to the Eketahuna library:— “Great Argument” (Philip Gibbs), “The Mad Doctor in Harley Street” (F. J. Thwaites), “The Mad Doctor” (F. J. Thwaites), “You Have Chosen” (Denise Robins), “Green Judgment” (Margaret Pedler), “Once More the Saint” (Leslie Charteris). Eketahuna Dairy Factory. The local butter factory is making excellent progress this season in producing a high grade article. Splendidly managed this concern is proving a decided acquisition to district farmers. The supply of milk promises to show a substantial increase this season, with a corresponding advancement in the output. The factory has already taken its place among the foremost dairy businesses in the Wairarapa and Forty Mile Bush districts. There is a very bright future before the dairying industry in the Eketahuna district, dairy farmers now devoting their close attention to the improvement of their herds and the company encouraging them by turning out an article which is engaging widespread attention for its excellence.

Presentation of Cup. At a combined meeting of the Eketahuna, Mangatainoka, Ballance, and Alfredton Young Farmers’ Clubs at Pahiatua on Monday night, the chairman (Mr I. Algie) called upon Mr F. E. Ward, president of the A. and P. Association, to present Mr George Cotter with a cup for winning the judging competition for Hereford cattle at the Masterton Show. In doing this Mr Ward congratulated Mr Cotter on his achievement and said that he hoped to see him go on to further successes. Mr Cotter suitably Returned thanks. The meeting passed a motion that the judging competition at the Pahiatua Show be continued, and recommended to the show committee, which had favoured the discontinuation of these classes owing to the delay involved, that the competition be concluded not later than 12 o’clock. Wrestling Tournament. One of the star bouts at the wrestling tournament at Pahiatua on Saturday will be between R. Sutherland, Masterton, Wairarapa, welterweight champion, and E. Norris, Newman, runnerup for the championship. Officials for the tournament will be as follows: —Announcer, Mr R. Mabey; referees, Messrs C. Cooper and H. Hill (Masterton); timekeeper, Mr G. O. C. Oxley; call steward, Mr Vai Baker; doorkeeper, Messrs A. Devonshire and C. Hewitt; ticket box, Mr G. Baker; medical attendant. Dr. H. Paterson.
