Miss Edna Howat is on a visit to Martinborough. Miss Avice Petersen, Essex Street, Masterton, is visiting her sister, Mrs L. Brooks, Palmerston North, and formerly of Masterton. Mrs D. M. Graham, Cole Street, Masterton, returned today from a visit to her daughter, Mrs R. T. St Lawrence, Haumoana, Hawke’s Bay.
Mrs F; H. B. Townsend, accompanied by Miss Nola Townsend and Mr Fred Townsend were Wellington visitors to Masterton for the Wall-Moodie wedding on Saturday last. They stayed at the Midland Hotel. Miss Nola Townsend, of Wellington, who is well known in Masterton, is to be married on Thursday next, at St Mark’s Church, Wellington, to Mr lan Bowie, of Eastbourne. Mrs J. C. Wickham, Wanganui, Dominion president of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, is visiting Wellington in connection with a meeting of the Dominion advisory board of that organisation. While in Wellington Mrs Wickham will stay at the Windsor Hotel. Other officials attending the advisory board meeting are: Mrs Noel Adams, Clevedon; Mrs C. C. Jackson, Masterton; Mrs W. H. Lane, Kaeo, North Auckland; Mrs N. Mclntosh, Invercargill; Mrs W. F. Field, Palmerston North; Mrs J. A. Harris, Turakina. ENGAGEMENT. The engagement is announced of Dorothy Jean, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Beadle, Karori, Wellington (and formerly of Carterton and Greytown), to William Boulton Culy, eldest son of Mr and Mrs F. Culy, Hastings.
