The death occurred yesterday of MiMartin D. Foster, of Pahiatua. Mr R. C. Addison, resident inspector of the Bank of New South Wales, returned to Wellington yesterday after a visit to the Hawke’s Bay and East Coast branches of the bank. Mr F. G. Nind, chief postmaster at Invercargill, who has been appointed senior inspector at the Wellington Post Office, was tendered a farewell by representatives of the staff on Friday. Mr Nind left Invercargill yesterday, but before going to Wellington, he will relieve Mr N. R. Mclsaac, chief postmaster at Dunedin, during his annual holidays. Mr John Reginald Herd, Wellington, has been appointed Crown Law Officer in Samoa for the next three years. Mr Herd has had a wide and interesting career and has held positions ranging from that of a teacher of English in Sweden to that of secretary to a famous London theatrical producer. Accompanied by his wife and small son, Mr Herd left Wellington by the Maui Pomare for Samoa today.
