DRUNKEN MOTORIST
ADMITTED TO PROBATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Charged with having been intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car at Titahi Bay on October 2, Mervyn Vincent Jones, farmer, aged 19, of Pahautanui, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court, Wellington, yesterday before Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M. A traffic inspector said that while on patrol duty at Titahi Bay at 11.30 o’clock on Saturday night he saw accused with several .others trying to mend a puncture. Jones appeared to be intoxicated. Some time later he saw the car being driven by Jones without any tyre on the rear right wheel. Accused was in an advanced slate of intoxication and was certified as being so when medically examined at the Central Police Station. Jones was admitted to probation for two years and prohibited from holding a driving licence during that period.
