MO KATOA TROOP
CELEBRATION OF BIRTHDAY. The first birthday of the Mo-Katoa Scout Troop was celebrated on Saturday evening, there being a large attendance of parents, friends and visiting scouters. On behalf of the troop, the Scoutmaster, Mr C. D. Bannister, thanked all those present for attending and making the evening a success. A novel item was contributed by Mr Parsons, a mouth organ duet by Pa-trol-Leader Brown and Scout Buller, a- sailor’s hornpipe by Cub J. Ryan and the five patrols also provided short entertainments, all of which were greatly appreciated by the audience. The handsome birthday cake was kindly donated by the proprietors of Wallis’s Bakery. After supper the gathering enjoyed a community sing with Mr Parsons at the piano and the evening concluded with a haka by the Scouts and the singing of the National Anthem. Apologies for absence were received from the District Scout Commissioner, Mr N. C. C. Shepherd, and from the Cubmaster, Mrs Bannister.
