MASTERTON BEAT MANAWATU MATCH AT LANSDOWNE A friendly match played on the Lansdowne Links during the week-end between the'Masterton and Manawatu golf clubs resulted in an easy win for Masterton by-ten games to two, three being halved. The detailed results are as follow, Manawatu players being mentioned first in every case. Glendinning and Sutherland lost to Hornabrook and Henderson; Ingham and Aitken lost to Horton and Jamieson; Goodwin and Greenbank lost to Boys and Blundell; Moffatt and Currie lost to'Kiernan and Torr; Nash and Robertson beat Holgate and Kibblewhite; Fletcher and Fisher lost to E. B. Booth and G. Ross; Jones and Mabey lost to Percy and McKenzie; Bepdall and Marsack all square with Miller and Irwin; Cousins and Whimsett all square with Duncan and Herbert; McKenzie and Ferguson lost to Horton, jun, and Grylls; Triggs and Sinclair lost to Connolly and Whiteman; Grummit and Harding all square with Jenkins and Hodder; Hansell and Bailey lost to Stratton and R. Marsack; Struthers and Brace lost to L. Daniell and Bassett; Hill and Pullar beat Stewart and Sellar.
MAHUNGA CLUB. LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY MRS WARD. The final of the ladies’ club championship was playea at the weekend, the winner being Mrs A. H. Ward who defeated Miss P. Madsen 2 up. The final of the Captain’s Trophy competition was also completed, Mis Ward winning from Miss N. Smith, 3 and 1. The final of the junior championship will be completed next weekend.
MEDAL COMPETITION RESULTS. The following were the best cards returned for a medal competition played on Saturday by members of the Mahunga- Golf Club:— A. W. McGregor 63, S. Jenkins 67, N. Rogers 69, A. H. Ward, L. M. Roach. E. J. Reid 71. . During the weekend the club’s championships were advanced a further stage. Results were:— Senior championship, semi-finals: A. E. Friend beat R. Lendrum, 1 up; I. McFarlane beat T. Nelson, 4/3. Junior championship, semi-finals: E. Jenkins beat S. Jenkins; W. Hosking beat J. Dove. The results of the semi-finals of the ladies’ trophy competition are:—W. W. Hendry beat D. A. Hunn, 8/7; I. McFarlane beat A. H. Ward, 1 up.
