EKETAHUNA
ARTS AND CRAFTS DISPLAY. (“Times-Age” Special.) One of the most creditable and interesting displays placed before the public of Eketahuna was the arts and crafts exhibition staged by the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union in the Technical School. Mr Brockett, instructor in agriculture, in the absence of the Mayor (Mr Simpson) opened the exhibition with a few well chosen remarks. The display was a very meritorious one and reflected the greatest credit on all concerned. On the walls were posters depicting scenic and sports attractions and drawings and paintings. Arranged on tables were miniature and plate gardens. New handcrafts were represented and the knitting was an exceptionally creditable display. Leatherwork, models in wood, basket-ware, dressed dolls, knitted toys, hand sewing, pressed weed and fern collections, all helped to make the exhibition of outstanding interest. Mrs Britain and Miss Anderson and Mr W. J. Henderson, assisted by senior pupils, were responsible for the splendid manner in which the exhibits were set out. Obituary. The many friends in Eketahuna of Miss Mary Frances O’Neill will regret to learn of her death which took place at Wellington this week. Miss O’Neill was a daughter of Mr Patrick O’Neill, who many years ago conducted the Eketahuna Hotel which was owned by the late Mr T. Parsons. Personal. Mr and Mrs A. Ramsay, of Parkville, have left on a visit to Auckland where their son, Munro, is ill in hospital with pneumonia. _
