Rest assured the French have no hostility towards Germany.” ENTHUSIASM IN PARIS MOST REMARKABLE SCENES -SINCE ARMISTICE. M. DALADIER OFFICIALLY THANKED. ( Received This Day, 11.35 a.m.) PARIS, September 30. M. Daladier’s homecoming is comparable with Mr Chamberlain’s and is described as occasioning the‘most enthusiastic scenes since the Armistice. Following on a Cabinet meeting held immediately after M. Daladier’s return, a communique was issued: — “The President, M. Lebrun, interoreting the feeling of the country, has thanked M. Daladier for his enlightened vigilance and patriotism and the civic courage with which he discharged a grave and delicate mission and brought it to a happy conclusion.” “Cabinet joined the President in congratulations to M. Daladier, who resoonded, asking that M. Bonnet (Foreign Minister) be included in the congratulations.” After approving the Munich agreement, Cabinet decided to summon Parliament on October 4. Hectic scenes were witnessed on the Bourse. The floor was an impassable mass of shouting humanity. Prices which jumped ten to thirty per cent yesterday, moved up further.

HAMILTON'S MESSAGE TO MR CHAMBERLAIN. ENGLISH-SPEAKING UNION ALSO CABLES. WELLINGTON, This Day. The following message has been sent by the Hon Adam Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, to Mr Neville Chamberlain (British Prime Minister): — “Realising that the respite secured and the final agreement resulting therefrom were a triumph for your statesmanship, we congratulate you as the saviour of peace. Just as the heart and hope of our people were with you in your deliberations in Munich, so they are now with you in expressing the hope that the Four Power Agreement will be the forerunner of a more general settlement ensuring peace and happiness for all peoples.” A cablegram has been sent by the English-Speaking Union of New Zealand to Mr Chamberlain expressing the Keenest appreciation of his great work in the cause of world peace and the heartiest congratulations on its successful issue, and another to President Roosevelt, greatly appreciating his efforts on behalf of world peace, the successful issue of which will draw still closer in bonds of peace the peoples of our two great common-
