CARTERTON SALE. LATE RATES MAINTAINED. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows: —A good yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs came forward at our Carterton sale yesterday and was offered to a large attendance. All classes sold well up to late rates and practically a total clearance was effected under the hammer as follows:— Sheep: Fat hoggets, 25s to 25s sd; f. and f. b.f. hoggets, 19s 6d to 235; fat ewes, 18s to 19s Id; ewes with lambs at foot, 9s Cd, 10s 3d, 12s, 13s 7d to 16s Id; woolly wether hoggets (good), 20s to 225; woolly wether hoggets (medium). 15s to 18s; b.f. hoggets, to 17s 3d; ewe hoggets, 26s 6d to 27s 3d; wether hoggets (small), to 13s 9d. Cattle: Jersey heifers on drop, £8 to £10; springing Jersey heifers, £5 7s 6d to £7 ss; Jersey cow just calved, £8 12s 6d to £10; springing Jersey cows, .£6 10s to £8 12s 6d; yearling Jersey heifers (good), £4 5s to £5 Is; light fat cows, £4 to £4 18s; forward cows, £2 16s to £3 17s 6d; store cows, 30s to £2 ss; bulls, to £4. FEILDING SALE A BRIGHTER TONE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, September 30. A much brighter tone was evident in every section of the Feilding sale today, all stock selling freely. Both fat and store sheep met a firm demand under keen competition, and prices showed an appreciation. The market for station cattle was particularly keen, some very good lines finding a ready sale. Fat cattle were in stronger demand, although no very heavy sorts were yarded. Realisations were: — Sheep: Ewes, prime heavy, 21s 6d to 22s Id; second quality, 18s 4d to 20s 6d; lighter, 13s 3d to 17s 7d; prime maiden ewes, 26s 4* first quality hoggets, 24s 9d to 25s 4d; second grade, 22s 3d to 245; lighter, 20s 4d to 21s 9d; unfinished, from 17s 8d; best wethers, 265. to 26s 3d; light, 245. Store sheep: Wether hoggets, good, 22s lOd to 23s 9d; small, 20s to 21s 2d; backward, 16s lOd to 18s 9d; well grown ewe hoggets, 345; second quality, 30s lud to 31s 3d; smaller, 27s 6d; good b.f. ditto, 18s 2d; others, 14s to 17s 6d; ewes and lambs, 13s to 16s 7d; four and five-year S.D. ewes, 25s 6d to 27s 6d; two-tooth wethers, 225; fattening ewes, 10s 6d. Store cattle: Boner cows, heavy, £3 16s to £4 2s 6d, light, £1 Ils to £3 12s 6d; yearling Jersey heifers, good sorts, £4 10s to £5 10s; backward sorts, £2 to £4 2s 6d; yearlings, mixed colour steers, .best £4 2s to £5 2s, small £2 17s 6d; good yearling P.A. steers, £5 17s to £6 16s; second quality, £5 7s 6d; small, £3 to £4; two-year P.A. steers, £8 10s to £8 13s; forward cows, £5 10s.
