Messrs Dalgety and Co Ltd report on their Masterton sale and fat stock sale held in conjunction yesterday, as follows: —A small entry of fat sheep, and a large yarding of fat cows and heifers came forward and attracted a good attendance of butchers. Fat sheep met with a market on a par with last week. The sale for fat cattle was a little disappointing and prices in this section were hardly up to those ruling in the paddock. However, the vendors were prepared to meet the market and a total clearance was effected under the hammer. Included in our entry were two very nice lines of fat cows and heifers on account of Mr H. G. Williams, Kumu Kumu, and the other on account of Mr O. A. Bunny, Waipipi, of the first three pens of cows offered on account, the former made £lO 4s, £9 and £B, while a prime pen of fat heifers on the latter’s account made £lO 10s and a pen of fat Hereford cows, £8 15s. One fat cow offered on account of Mr Bunny topped the market at £ll 13s. We report a total clearance as follows: —Heavy fat cows, £B, £8 10s, £9 to £lO 4s; fat prime cow, £ll 13s, medium fat cows, £7, £7 15s to £7 17s 6d; light fat cows, £6 10s to £6 15s; fat dairy cows, £5 10s, £5 15s, £6 2s 6d; prime fat heifers, £lO 10s; light fat heifers, £B, £8 ss, £8 13s to £8 15s; forward condition, P.A. cows, £5 8s; springing heifers, £6 7s 6d; late calving heifers, £4. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co Ltd report:—At our weekly sale y terday, a fair entry of sheep came forward, and also a big yarding of fat cattle. There was only a limited demand for store sheep, and we considered prices easier. Only heavy fat ewes created competition. Light ewes and wethers were neglected. In the fat cattle section a consignment of nice quality bullocks were offered on behalf of the “Brancepeth” and “Morland” stations, which made prices ranging from £l3 10s to £l4 Bs. Fat cows were slightly easier, no doubt due to the heavy yarding. A particularly good heifer offered on account of Mr Allister Williams made £l3 7s 6d. Fat cows, £7 10s to £9, sheep sold as follows: —Fat ewes (heavy), 21s 4d to 21s 9d (lighter), 17s 6d to 18s 6d; ewes with b.f. Ikmbs at foot, Ils lOd to 14s lOd (all counted) fat hoggets, 245.
