Flan, has been notified by the New Zealand Racing Conference that her gelding has been awarded first placing in the Corunna Hurdles at the Wellington winter meeting last July, as a result of the disqualification of King Mestor. The notification also carries the intimation that the stakes will be paid when they are recovered. This is a case in which the honour a very mixed blessing indeed. Southern Blood becomes winner of the race, but his owner and supporters did not get the dividend. And meanwhile the owner also has not received the prizemoney, but the horse, with the (so far) empty Trentham honour, has gone up to only £lO off the hack margin for a hurdler. ______________
