By winning this year’s St Leger. Scottish Union scored where his sire. Cameronian, failed badly in Doncaster's classic race of 1931. Cameronian had won the Two Thousand Guineas and Derby in such convincing style that he was considered likely to have his name included with the select list of winners of the "triple crown.” He ruled a firm favourite for the St Leger, but proved a complete disappointment and saw all the field home. Scottish Union ran second to Pasch in the Two Thousand Guineas, and in the Derby he filled a similar position to Bois Roussel.
