PERSONAL ITEMS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr W. Ramsay, of Dunedin, is on a visit to his brother, Mr A. Ramsay, of Parkville. Mrs H. Higginson had as her guest this week Mrs Small, of Lower Hutt. Political. Mr J. H. Irving is to address electors at Kaiparoro on Saturday night. Mr J. Robertson is due to deliver an address at Hukanui tonight and at Alfredton on Monday night. Cricket Club. Cricket promises to flourish during the coming season and the Eketahuna Club hope to be able to put a strong team in the field. The Eketahuna Club held its annual meeting last night when it was reported that the outlook for the season was very good. Considerable enthusiasm was displayed and members are keenly looking forward to an interesting period of cricket. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr C. T. Richardson; president, Mr H. Smith; vice-presidents, Messrs S. O’Regan, B. Rogers, M. Priest; secretary, Mr F. Robinson; committee, Messrs R. Payne, H. Higginson, A. Rowden, J. E. Williams; club captain, Mr R. D. McGregor; vice-captain, Mr J. Payne; club coaches. Messrs F. Robinson and R. D. McGregor. The subscription was fixed at 12s 6d. It was decided to enter a team for the Bush competition. Dairy Stock in Demand. There is a good demand for dairy stock in the district, and at the sale at Eketahuna yesterday buyers from Manawatu and the West Coast were in search of cows to fill their requirements. The best sorts sold well at from £9 to £lO 7s 6d. There was also a fair demand for pigs, as farmers in the district are now giving more attention to the raising of pigs. Hon. W. Nash’s Meeting. The Hon. Walter Nash had a good reception yesterday at his meeting here which was well attended. He dealt with the Government policy, making particular reference to the guaranteed prices. He answered a number of questions, and on the motion of Mr J. Robertson, M.P., was accorded a vote of thanks for his address. National Party Function. The local branch of the National Party held a very enjoyable social in the Anglican Schoolroom last night when there was a large attendance. The prizes in the euchre tournament were won by Miss Sigvertsen (ladies) and Mr A. Chambers (men). Later Mrs T. R. Barrer addressed the gathering.
