GOLF COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Owing to the boisterous weather little golf has been played recently, but conditions were ideal on Saturday when the semi-finals for the championship and the second round for the handicap cup were played. In the ladies’ championship Miss M. Taylor defeated Mrs Nitz and Mrs Schofield defeated Miss Taylor. Miss M. Taylor and Mrs Schofield will now meet in the final over a 27 hole course. In the men’s championship W. Kummer defeated S. Gray and H. Paku defeated I. McGregor. H. Paku and W. Kummer will play the final over 36 holes. Next Saturday the third round of the handicap cup will be played. The following is the draw: —Ladies: Mrs Read V. Mrs I. McGregor; Mrs A. McGregor v. Mrs Foreman; Mrs McKinstry v. Miss Taylor; Miss Vennell, v. Mrs Nitz; Mrs J. Bannister v. Miss Dickason; Miss Bannister v. Miss Buckeridge; • Mrs Schofield v. Miss M. Taylor; Mrs P. Kummer v. Miss McGregor. Men: N. Kummer v. S. Gray; M. Paku v. I. McGregor; R. Vennell v. J. Bannister; A. McGregor v. H. Winter; W. Kummer v. H. Paku; F. Cotter v. E. Nitz; F. McKinstry v. N. Foreman; R. McKinstry v. P. Kummer. During the weekend Mrs Schofield and S. Gray defeated Mr and Mrs A. McGregor in a challenge for the silver buttons. P. Kummer defeated E. Nitz in a Nimmo Cup match and meets S. Gray in a similar challenge next playing day. Mrs Schofield defeated Miss Buckeridge in a Kummerstein Cup challenge and will now meet Mrs Read on the next playing day. Annual Golf Ball. The annual golf ball set down for September 10 had to be postponed owing to abnormal rain causing slips and wash-outs on all roads leading to Te Wharau, and it has now been decided to hold the annual fixture on Saturday, October 1.
