FEATHERSTON

DENTAL CLINIC. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the Dental Clinic Committee was held in the schoolroom on Friday evening, there being present the Rev R. S. Keenan (chairman), Messrs C. C. Kenward (secretary), J. H. Holland, K. H. Allen, S. Murphy, and the new headmaster, Mr Hayes. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs P. Wilton (chairman of the South Featherston School Committee), Messrs G. T. Cole, F. E. Dohnt, F. Jensen, K. N. Saywell (Western Lake) and Mrs Arch. Clark (South Featnerston Home and School Association). Mr R. S. Keenan extended a welcome to Mr Hayes, who suitably replied. It was explained by the secretary that it was very important in the interests of the Clinic’s finances that the headmaster should undertake the collecting of dental fees from the children, and this matter is to receive the careful attention of Mr Hayes. It was decided to instal a card index system. The Cross Creek School Committee forwarded a donation of 10s 6d towards Clinic funds. ' . • The action of the president in authorising the purchase of a new heater by the dental nurse (Miss Dempster) was approved. Accounts totalling £4 2s were passed for payment. It was decided to hold a shop day towards the end of November...' Euchre Tournament. There was a good attendance at the weekly card tournament held by the Fire Brigade in the Anzac Hall on Tuesday evening. The prize-winners were: —Ladies, Mrs R. Fluty 1, Mrs A. Tait 2. Men: Mr A. Jury 1, Mrs Cross 2. Educative Picture. A talking picture was shown in the Town Hall by the International Harvester Company in conjunction with the local Young Farmers’ Club. It proved a very interesting and most educational picture. Dealing with the use of the Harvester Company’s products in connection with farms, roadbuilding, timber milling and transport, it went to prove that the present was the age of machinery.
