DECLARATION BY CZECH COMMUNIST DR HODZA’S ASSURANCE LONDON, September 20. The Prague correspondent of the British United Press Association states that the Czech Premier, Dr Hodza, said yesterday that the Government would do everything to assure that the interests of the country and people were not violated. Dr Gottwald, president of the Czech Communist Party, speaking before a permanent committee of Parliament today, said that there were no persons in Czechoslovakia with powers to carry through something against which the whole Czechoslovak people stood united, in addition to the masses of Henleinists who demanded a just settlement without an occupation by the Reich. “Britain and France in the last 20 years,” said Dr Gotwald, “demanded that we maintain our frontiers in the interests of the defence of central and eastern Europe against the German drive eastward. “We are sure ’that the British and French peoples think differently from the Ministers at the London conference. We shall not stand by and let our republic be destroyed. We shall defend ourselves in the sure knowledge that Russia will be loyal to her treaty obligations.” DOMINIONS INFORMED OUTLINE OF ANGLO-FRENCH PLAN (Received This Day, 10.10 a.m.) LONDON, September 20. The Association Press says official circles confirm that the Dominions have been informed of the main outline of the Anglo-French plan.
