ROAD IMPROVEMENTS

OPAKI OVERHEAD BRIDGE. The approaches to the Opaki overhead bridge are now being reconstructed in readiness for permanent sealing. The bridge and its approaches were constructed last year and it is necessary to allow consolidation to take place before the approaches are permanently surfaced. Dips at either end are now being filled up to improve visibility and the proper superelevation in the curves is being provided .o give the maximum of safety for traffic. Drivers are asked to proceed slowly while the work is in progress. The sealing will take place during the summer.

The improved portion of the highway at the Opaki junction, where the bank has been cut back to give one long curve instead of two, will also be sealed this summer.
