DRAMA LEAGUE
THE COMING FESTIVAL. The late date this year of the Wairarapa Drama League’s festival has led many lovers of the amateur drama to fear that they would be deprived of what has become a very popular annual function. But most of the necessary arrangements are now made and the plays are well under rehearsal. At an executive meeting of the league yesterday it was reported that entries for the forthcoming festival were very satisfactory, there being eight senior entries and two junior. It was decided that the festival be held, in the Opera House on October 4 and 5 and that four senior plays and one junior play be presented each night. The programme was arranged so that comedies and plays of a more serious nature would alternate. Rehearsal times for each of the competing societies were also fixed. Several letters were received relevant to the North Island elimination festival which it is proposed should be held in Masterton on October 12 and 13. Arrangements for this function are already well in hand.
