Boxers and officials were tendered a civic reception by the deputy-mayor, Mr J. H. Hall, this afternoon. First round results are:— Bantamweight: H. Foote (Wellington). 8.31, beat R. Smith (Ashburton), 8.33, on points: N. Leckie (Otago), 8.41, beat E. Underwood (Auckland), 8.4, on points. Featherweight: T. Baty (Gisborne), 8.10, beat H. Stock (Auckland), on points. • W. Phelan (Northern Wairoa), 8.111, beat L. Parsons (Manawatu), 8.11, on a technical knock-out; G. Thomas (Taranaki), 8.101, beat J. Parker (Wellington), 8.121, the title-holder, on points; M. Parr (Otago), beat R. Smith (Ashburton), by default.
Light-heavyweight: W. Lister (Rakaia), beat P. Wood (Wairoa), on points: T. Lister (Ashburton), won by default from A. Wilkins (Waikohu).
Lightweight: D. Coughlan (Manawatu), 9.7, beat D. McGirr (Rakaia), on points; H. Mclvor (Napier), 9.5, beat H. Wellington (Gisborne), 9.2, on points; S. Morris (Wairarapa) won by default from H.
