GUESTS OF HONOUR
FAREWELLED AT CARTERTON. (“Times-Age” Special.) A most enjoyable bridge party was held at the residence of Mrs Howard Jackson, Kent Street, Carterton, yesterday afternoon to bid farewell to Mrs W. J. C. Wells, who will shortly leave for England, and Mrs R. Roydhouse and her daughter Betty, who leave on Friday to spend a short holiday in Sydney. The guests of honour were presented with shoulder sprays. Bowls of lovely spring flowers made bright splashes of colour in the drawing room where the guests numbering forty were assembled. The prize-winners were Mrs T, Jordan (Masterton) and Mrs J, Steel. The joint hostesses were Mrs Howard Jackson who wore a graceful frock of black cloque with shell pink jabot, and Mrs H. M. B. Trapp, who was attired in a gown of black crepe-de-chene patterned in rose and green.
Mrs R. Roydhouse wore a becoming black frock and black hat while Miss B. Roydhouse was attractively attired in a gay spring model in ming blue with floral sleeves and a chic little hat to match. Mrs W. J. C. Wells’s frock was navy georgette worn with a navy and cerise hat.
During afternoon tea the guests of honour took the opportunity of saying farewell to their friends.
