The gallery in the Lower House was packed. The Speaker, with head reverently bowed, muttered the opening prayer. Then a Cockney voice was heard to say: “Lumme if the old buffer ain’t saying grace. What’s he saying Bill?” Bill: “For whom we are abaht to deceive may the Lord have abundant mercy.”
