WAIRARAPA R.S.A.
MEETING AT FEATHERSTON. CAMPAIGN TO INCREASE MEMBERSHIP. A meeting of the central committee of the Wairarapa R.S.A. was held at the Anzac Hall, Featherston, the president, Mr H. J. Brass, being in the chair. Also present were Messrs H. G. Alexander, L. S. Nicol, A. L. Bennett, R. Whyborn, A. E. Prentice (Masterton); A. T Murray, C. A. Chennells (Carterton); N. H. Thomas, N. C. D. Mason (Martinborough); A. Robbins and J. W. Fellingham (Featherston). Messrs J. H. King, L. Smith, C. Bargh and J. A. Halpin, of the Featherston branch were also present. On behalf of the Featherston committee Mr Robbins extended a welcome to the members of the central committee and endorsed the idea of that committee’s meetings being held alternately at the various branch centres. It was decided to order 6500 poppies for 1939 Poppy Day. The treasurer submitted a report on the financial position of the association. This showed a credit balance at the bank of £lO9 4s 9d and at the Post Office Savings Bank of £474 10s 4d, a total of £583 15s Id. The financial membership stood at 453. Fourteen new members were elected. Mr D. M. Pollock wrote tendering his resignation from the committee owing to his permanent removal to Napier. A copy of the annual report of the New Zealand R.S.A. was laid on the table. It was decided to make an earnest endeavour to increase the financial membership to 500 before the end of the financial year . The next meeting was convened for October 11 at Grey town.
