AUGUST IMPORTS AND EXPORTS (Recd This Day, 11.55 a.m.) LONDON, September 14. Board of Trade returns for August show: —Imports, £74,130.000, exports, £36,331,000, re-exports, £5,044,000. The principal decreases compared with August last year are: — Imports of grain and flour, £605,000, meat, £596,000; iron- ore and scrap, £640,000; non-ferrous ores and scrap, £647,000 wood and timber, £2,612,000; wool, £542.444, hides and skins, £964,000, iron and steel manufacturers, £2,467,000, oils and fats, £1,104,000. Exports: Iron and steel, £928,000; cotton yarns and manufacturers, £2,051.000, woollen and worsted manufactures, £843,000.
Re-exports: non-ferrous metals manufactures, £1,524,000. Increases are: —Imports of tobacco, £777,000. Exports of machinery, £598,000.
