APPEAL UPHELD

SEIZURE OF JAPANESE LUGGER. AUSTRALIAN COURT AWARDS DAMAGES TO OWNERS. DARWIN, September 14. Judge Wells in the Supreme Court upheld the appeal of the Japanese for the return of the pearling lugger Takachiho Maru. which was seized last year by a patrol boat for alleged trespass in Australian territorial waters. He also awarded the Japanese owners £2OOO damages and the return of their pearl shell. Other appeals are pending. The Commonwealth Government obtained a stay of proceedings for 21 days.
