Settlers in Lower Valley state that the receding of the flood water is very gradual, more so than usual, and it is anticipated it will be some time before the low-lying areas are clear. Fortunately the settlers had ample warning which enabled them to get their stock to higher levels with the result that few losses are reported. The present flood is only 6 inches lower on the guage than the disastrous inundation in 1932 when hundreds of sheep and cattle were drowned. Railway Football Match. Showing superior combination among the forwards and having inside backs with dash and penetration, the Woodville railwaymen’s team had little difficulty in beating their rivals from Cross Creek by 15 to nil on Sunday afternoon at Woodville. The ground was sodden and the ball heavy yet the style of play shown by the Woodville side is demonstrated by die fact that all the scoring movements came from, the back line.
