ESPERANTO

MASTERTON CLUB MEETING At the weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club, held last evening Mr A. Dewar, D.8.E.A., presided over a satisfactory attendance. Greetings were received from the president of the New Zealand Esperanto Association, Mr Bertram Potts, J.P., of Wellington, and the local secretary was entrusted to present the salutations of the Masterton Club to the Dominion Executive, at a meeting to be held in Wellington during the weekend. Correspondence in Esperanto received during the week comprised journals from Czechoslovakia, France, China, Italy and Switzerland, also printed matter from France. Details of the International League of Esperantist Post and Telegraph Officers were explained by Mr W. H. King, who displayed the league’s official organ, published in Esperanto, and which, circulating among Esperantist post and telegraph officials in 75 countries and States, destroys for them the barrier created by the diversity of language. During the usual weekly lesson, given with the aid of the blackboard, detailed study was devoted to the Esperanto correlative words, a scheme of word-building described by philologists as perfect; and a short poem was mastered. The concluding item, a reading of an article entitled ’Kvar Numeroj,” was contributed by Mrs Stewart in the international language.
