Miss Mary Mossman, Hastings, is a visitor to Masterton. Mrs Edna Paterson, of Renall Street, Masterton, is visiting Wanganui. Mr and Mrs Leo Connolly, Pownall Street, Masterton, are visiting the South Island. Mrs E. B. Watson (Pahiatua) has Miss M. Anderson, of Dunedin, as* her guest. Mrs Brietmeyer, of Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs C. D. Shoosmith, Essex Street, Masterton. Mr and Mrs R. Wade left Pahiatua at the weekend to take up their residence at Waipukurau. Miss Phyllis Miller, of “Helmieh,” Ohingaiti, who has been visiting relatives in Masterton, returned home today. Miss Ruth Herrick, Hawke’s Bay, Dominion Commissioner of Girl Guides arrived at Palmerston North yesterday on an official visit. She is the guest of Dr and Mrs Ivan Wilson, formerly of Featherston. On Saturday last in St Patrick’s Assembly Hall a coming-of-age party was given by Mr and Mrs C. Cross in honour of their daughter Joyce. About 70 guests were present and all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Dancing was the order of the evening, a special feature being a tap dance by Miss M. Greenlees, N. Clarke and J. Gleeson. Supper was provided. Messrs T. O’Connor and Hopkins played the dance music. Mr F. McKelvey and R. Cross acted as M’s.C.

MARTINBOROUGH

(“Times-Age” Special.) Miss Curran, of Invercargill, is the guest of her sister, Mrs N. Hudson. Miss L. McKay has joined the nursing staff of the Palmerston North Hospital. Mr and Mrs J. Sullivan and their son, of Miramar, were visitors to Martinborough during the weekend.

(“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs L. Clare and her daughter, New Plymouth, are visiting Mrs Trevor Hume, Raho Ruru. Miss Foster, who has been releiving at the local school, has left for Wellington. Miss Harvey, who had beerpdndisposed, resumed her duties on Monday. Miss Renner, who is the Gladstone queen candidate in connection with the Green and Gold Ball tomorrow evening, was a visitor to the district at the weekend. The engagement is announced of Vera, daughter of Mr and\Mrs Thomas Nelson, to Charles, fourth son of the late Mr George Busch and Mrs Busch. Mr Busch entertained a large number of friends at the resident of his mother on Saturday evening in honour of the event.
