CARTERTON

PLUNKET SOCIETY. MRS WELLS FAREWELLED. (‘•Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Carterton branch of the Plunket Society took place yesterday. The nurse’s report was received and accounts were passed for payment. The president announced that Bulb Day would be held at “Middle Run” on September 24. At the conclusion of the business Mrs H. M. B. Trapp announced that their president (Mrs W. J. C. Wells) would leave shortly on a trip to England. Mrs J. Steel presented Mrs Wells with a book and a bouquet of violets from the committee and expressed the best wishes of the members that the departing guest would have a pleasant voyage. Mrs Wells feelingly replied. On behalf of the Greytown branch, Mrs Vile wished Mrs Wells bon voyage and an interesting holiday abroad. Mrs Wells looked charming in a navy georgette frock and smart little jadecoloured suede hat. Afternoon tea brought to a close a very pleasant function. Also present were Mesdames H. M. B. Trapp (hon. secretary), R. Campbell, J. Udy, V. L. Robinson, N. R. Armstrong, C. C. Callender, W. Candy, A. Phillpotts, J. Steel, H. E. Jackson, E. W. Dyer and Mrs R. G. Vile (Greytown). Mrs J. Steel will act as president during Mrs Wells’ absence.
