FATAL CRASH
BRITISH BOMBING PLANE DESTROYED NOTED AIRMAN AND COMRADE KILLED. RADIO OPERATOR CRITICALLY INJURED. (Recd This Day, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, September 12. Squadron-Leader M. Adam, A.F.C., and holder of the world’s altitude record of 53,937 feet and Flight-Lieu-tenant R. Monks of the Experimental Aircraft Squadron at Farnborough, were killed, and a civilian wireless operator,-A. Bond, was critically burned, when a bomber crashed and caught fire, defying the efforts of fire brigades.
