WAIRARAPA SHOW

STOCK. AND OTHER CLASSES. MANY NEW CUPS DONATED. Classes for all breeds of stock and for dairy produce, home industries, dogs, competitions and schools provide intending exhibitors at the Wairarapa Show, to be held at Carterton on October 25 and 26. with ample scope for the display of their entries. The schedule, which is now available, is a particularly comprehensive one and has been thoroughly revised and brought up-to-date. A feature of the show is the number of valuable challenge cups, trophies and special prizes available for competition. This year the following new trophies have been donated: J. G. McDonald Cup, open dog trials, value £l5 15s; Walker and Hall Cup, for hack champion; “Meat and Wool” Cup, for best registered purebred beef animal: Jersey Breeders’ Cup, for yearling Jersey bull; P. Bain’s special, £3 3s, for most points in grade dairy heifers; cup valued at £5 5s for most points in natural condition Romneys; special prizes donated by B. R. Rayner, for bacon pig suitable for local trade. The principal additional new classes include a consolation jump on People’s Day, a full range of classes for Ryeland and Cheviot sheep, a class for a pen of two ram hoggets in the wool (natural condition Romney), and another for four crossbred ewe hoggets bred and reared on hill country. In the pig section the local baconer class will also be judged on the hooks at Waingawa. Special attention has been paid to the ring events on the second day and these have been rearranged to make them as attractive as possible. More hack classes will be decided after lunch than was formerly the case. On the evening of the first day a night show will be held. This has proved very popular in the past and the Scottish dancing and other events to be decided are sure to attract numerous entries and a large attendance of the public. Schedules for the show are obtainable from the secretary, Mr L. H. Smart, P.O. Box 25, Carterton.
