London quotations BUTTER MARKET SLOW The London butter market was slow last week, deliveries of New Zealand butter being 1387 tons and of Australian 947 tons. According to the report supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the Dairy Board, New Zealand salted butter was quoted on Friday at 123 s to 124 s a cwt, a rise of Is on the week. New Zealand butter in store in London on Friday totalled 4800 tons (including 747 tons ex Rangitiki), as against 6463 tons a year ago. Australian butter in store amounted to 4072 tons, as compared with 3493 tons a year ago. Friday’s closing prices, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — New Zealand: Salted, 123 s to 124 s (122 s to 1235; a year ago, 115 s to 116 s); unsalted, 1245, ex- 125 s (1235; a year ago, 117 s). Australian: Salted, 119 s to 120 s (118 s to 119 s); unsalted, 120 s, ex 121 s (119 s to 120 s). Danish: 114 s f.0.b.; 135 s to 136 s spot (114 s to 115 s; 1355). Dutch: Unsalted, 112 s, ex 114 s (Ills to 112 s). Retail prices were unchanged, New Zealand at Is 3d and Danish at Is 4d a lb. The cheese market was steady, New Zealand being unchanged at 73s a cwt, Friday’s closing prices, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — .New Zealand: White and coloured, 73s (735; a year ago, white 68s to 68s 6d, coloured 69s to 69s 6d). Australian: White and coloured, 68s to 70s (white, 68s 6d to 70s 6d; coloured, 68s 6d to 70s). Canadian: White and coloured, 71s to 72s (71s to 725); c.i.f., 69s 6d (695); old season’s white 78s to 80s (78s to 80s), coloured 79s to 80s (78s to 80s). English: Finest farmers’, 86s to 88s (86s to 88s); factory cheese, 6(Js to 68s (67s to 68S). Deliveries of New Zealand cheese last week were 13,798 crates, the quantity in store being 48,147 crates, as against 51,332 crates a year ago. Deliveries of Canadian cheese were 7122 boxes, the quantity in store being 112,072 boxes, as against 135,414 boxes a year ago.
