Student Representation.
Authority for the presentation of the Victoria University College Students’ Association on the Victoria University College Council is contained in the Statutes Amendment Bill, which was introduced in the House of Representatives yesterday. The association is to have one representative on the council. The representative is to be appointed by the executive of the association, and he must be a person who has attended lectures at the college within the period of two years immediately preceding the appointment. The first member so appointed is to be appointed not later than the third Monday in June of next year, and will retire from office in 1941.
Coastal Planting. At the monthly meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board the chairman, Mr J. Linklater, reported that the Conservator of Forests was prepared to assist the board in any way possible in the establishment of a nursery at Manawatu Heads with a view to carrying out the planting of a million trees at the heads. The secretary said that already he had had a 32-perch section dug up at the beach in readiness for planting. Quotations for the supply of seed were received and referred to the local committee, together with several applications for treeplanting work, one of which came from Whangarei. The secretary pointed out to the applicants that the scheme was as yet in its infancy and there was no work available.
